Bio
Yoga and counseling provide an opportunity to observe, explore and navigate ourselves with clarity, honesty and presence. I believe that authentic change is only possible from a place of acceptance. My work as both a therapist and a yoga instructor encourages individuals to work first and foremost on self-awareness skills, building the kind of self-acceptance necessary to create room for change. The heart-centered and spiritual practice I built more than a decade ago is the foundation for my own practice and my teaching. I am inspired by the rich potential yoga has for health and healing for individuals, community and the world.
I experienced the richness of life and connection when I began teaching in 2002 and was inspired to pursue a career as a helping professional. In completing a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, I dedicated my studies to finding a way to integrate the healing benefits of yoga with Western psychology. I completed my coursework at Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling and internship with a community mental health agency in two years. I have worked with clients of all ages dealing with issues around trauma, depression, anxiety, adjustment, addictions, relationship and career/life goals. I thoughtfully and joyfully integrate my knowledge as a mental health therapist and yoga practitioner with counseling clients and yoga students.
